Summer Sensory

Summer from my backyard…

comforting drone of the neighbor’s lawnmower

thrum of rising heat

tantalizing waffs of barbeque

smiling inducing laughter and squeals of the VBS children at play

drone of ovehead planes taking in the view

piercing horn blasts of the A-line trains traveling north and south

conversation snatches of runners and bikers passing by

bass thrum of teens cruising around

crescendo of motorcycles out for a spin

the dip and dives of swallows catching supper bugs

robin chirrup, chickadee beckon, crow squawk, dove wing chrill, chipmunk scold

sprinkler tick, tick, ticky, tock

aspen leaf lift and swish and sway in the cooling gift of breeze

Ahhhhhh, mmmmm, summmer…..

  1. Love it! 🙂

    • This was supposed to be a completely different post and it ran away from me! Glad you enjoyed it. Do you have a fave summer sensory experience?

      • The tick tick tick of the sprinkler is high on the list. As is the on and off glow of the fireflies (I just love them!).

      • Augghh! I have no fireflies. How about the zuzz-buzz of the hummer’s wings as it lights and delights from the feeder station by my backyard feeder chair?

Do you think the environ police will arrest me if I try to import fireflies?

      • The buzz of the hummer’s wings are great too!

I’ll try to train a firefly to traverse the lands! (side note: I read somewhere that women used to – can’t remember when- tie live fireflies in their hair for dinner parties so their hair would intermittently light up during the evening. Horribly cruel and fascinating at the same time…)
