a writer's journey as a reader

Writerly Wisdom IV

WordPress has that playful Pavlovian side in that every time we post a blog we are rewarded with a quote.  I liken it to the prize earned in my Crackjacks box.  The way notable and the everyman combines words to create a noteworthy thought is one of my happies in life and keeps me posting.

Even prior to joining the ranks of WordPress bloggers, I have delighted in gathering words. I save them and savor them. Like with many things in life, I have learned that the best way to enjoy something even more fully is to share it.  And so here–I am sharing my latest gathering of  various quotes, with the emphasis on writing. I hope you also savor their impact, their resonance, their form of sustenance as I harvest them from my hiding places and shake them to send them skittering across the page.  Enjoy!

  1. It’s true – those post-post quotes are pretty nifty. I’ve been pre-scheduling my posts, lately, though, so I’ve been missing out on them.

Also, Hӓagen-Dazs has gelato, now? Hmmmmmm…

  2. This is a great collection of quotes- and I’m in awe that Hӓagen-Dazs has gelato WHY HAVE I NOT KNOWN THIS MY WHOLE LIFE?!

  3. Great post. Thank you so much for sharing. You have an excellent writing style here. It really shows. Have a great day.

  4. Great quotes. The Rice, Frost, Asimov and Nin quotes are my favorites.

And I get to eat ice cream to cure my occasional writer’s block???!!! I’m in. 😉

  5. This is a great post, but don’t quote me on it. Ha! I amuse myself. In one way or another all these quotes actually help, especially Maugham’s.

  6. Vanilla. Although made damson a few weeks ago and it was pretty good. Nice post!

  7. i love that thinking through my fingers bit – so asimov! another great one i used to have posted on my bulletin board is “writing is easy, you just open a vein and bleed”. can’t remember who it’s attributed to…

anyway, as far as the ice cream front, for me it has to be ben & jerry’s new york super fudge chunk. if that doesn’t break through the writer’s block, at least i’ll feel better.

  8. Can´t think of any particular quote right now. Probably need some icecream and then I´ll come back to it.
